Healthcare Network to Receive $1.75 Million in Appropriations in Recently Passed Florida State Budget

Funds will be used to expand access to primary care with new health center.

Naples, Fla. (June 19, 2023) – Healthcare Network, a nonprofit organization working to ensure primary medical care is accessible to everyone in the community, regardless of job or income, will receive $1.75 million in appropriation funds from the state to build a health center in the Orangetree area of Golden Gate Estates. Construction of the health center is expected to begin in winter 2023.

The new comprehensive health center will offer pediatrics, adult and senior care, obstetrics and gynecology, dental care and behavioral health counseling as well as a drive-thru pharmacy.

To determine the need for this health center, Healthcare Network performed an assessment on the areas of current and expected population growth in Collier County where primary care services would be of greatest benefit. Experiencing significant growth, Orangetree was identified as a medically underserved community that lacks primary care providers, making it the ideal choice for a new Healthcare Network location. It is projected the center will provide care to nearly 30,000 patients in its first year.

“For 46 years, Healthcare Network has proven successful in improving access to quality health care for patients in practices located throughout Collier County,” said Jamie Ulmer CEO and president of Healthcare Network. “We appreciate the Florida Legislatures for their support of our mission and their investment in improving community health. In particular, we are most grateful to Florida Senate President Kathleen Passidomo and Representative Lauren Melo who have, for many years, been prominent advocates of Healthcare Network and sponsored this appropriation.”

The organization will secure grants and in the near future, will launch a capital campaign to raise additional funds for the new medical center which is estimated to cost $15 million.
